She plays DePiano...

     Karina DePiano is a classically trained, Los Angeles-based musician, specializing in music direction, keyboard playing, and production. She is organized, a high-energy performer, and passionate about working with artists to help them achieve their ultimate performance.

     She has performed and toured around the world with Troye Sivan, Miley Cyrus, Fifth Harmony, Rita Ora, Daya, Niki, Julia Michaels, Kesha and Alessia Cara. Karina is the music director for Troye Sivan, mxmtoon, and Malia Civetz.

Karina has performed on several TV shows including Saturday Night Live, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Today Show and many more. In 2021 she appeared in Taylor Swift’s “I Bet You Think About Me” music video and performed at the American Music Awards with Olivia Rodrigo.

     Karina attended USC’s Thornton School of Music as a Popular Music Major, where she studied under Patrice Rushen.  In her time at USC, Karina accompanied Glenn Frey and was the music director for a master class with Chaka Khan.

Troye Sivan - “In A Dream EP - Live”

Arranged and produced Troye Sivan’s June 2021 livestream performance of his In A Dream EP, in partnership with Grubhub and The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (an organization that supports LGBTQ+ owned restaurants impacted by the pandemic).


Daya - live performances

Since 2017, Karina has performed with and music directed various Daya performances for live TV, festivals, and more. Featured here is Daya’s live band performance of “Bad Girl” on Jimmy Kimmel in 2021.


mxmtoon - live tour and shows

Assembled the band and arrangements for mxmtoon’s first tour with a band in 2019 and continues to work with mxmtoon for various live shows, including her 2021 Outsidelands performance featured here.


Malia Civetz - tour and live shows

Karina has MD’d and played keys for Malia’s live performances professionally since 2018, but their partnership began back in the USC Pop Program in 2012. Featured here is a live performance of “Broke Boy” at MelodyVR as well as an acoustic arrangement of “Partied Out.”
